Portoroz is a modern resort town on the Slovene coast.
According to history, the natural healing elements here such as salt pan mud (fango), sea water, and brine (acqua madre) were used by Roman soldiers and in the 13th century by the Benedictine monks from the Sv. Lovrenc monastery. Health resort tourism in the modern meaning of the word began to develop in 1885 when a small hotels and a buildings for thalassotherapy treatments were erected.
In the last years all facilities were completely renovated and enriched with a new offer.
